FINANCIAL AID, SCHOLARSHIPS AND TUITION COSTS

Financial Aid

Financial aid is provided from the government and/or Cleveland State University to help bridge the gap between your own financial resources and the amount of money needed to pay the cost of attending classes.

CSU encourages all students to apply for financial aid. Approximately 70 percent of our students receive some form of financial assistance. In addition, CSU also has the ability to provide need-based grants, which are not required to be repaid.

The first step in the financial aid process is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By completing the FAFSA, you are applying for gift aid (scholarships and grants) and self-help programs (Federal Work-Study and loans).

Click here to learn more about FAFSA, how to apply for financial aid, important dates and deadlines, types of financial aid and other student programs that can help pay for college such as Cleveland State's Student Employment program.

Scholarships

Cleveland State University awards students scholarships based on a range of criteria that reflect the values of the University and purposes of the donor or founder of the award. These include a host of scholarships available to incoming freshman and transfer students for the purpose of furthering their education to help them reach their goals.

Check out our list of scholarships - some are specifically available to students in certain areas of study, a few are specifically available to students who live in your community, a great number are available to those with high academic achievement, some are awarded based on extracurricular activities and leadership, and there's many more!

Tuition Cost

Cleveland State has consistently been one of the most affordable among Ohio's colleges and universities. In fact, CSU has the second lowest tuition rate for Ohio-based undergrad students in the state among 4-year universities. A student with Ohio residency that attends classes full-time at CSU pays only $8,000 per year.

The CSU fee schedule varies according to undergraduate, graduate and law school student status as well as in-and-out-of-state residency.

Remember that in addition to tuition, there are books and other expenses to consider. Educational expenses vary per student based on personal situations and lifestyle.
